november is over, which means #mythothon is over. and i read 5 books, which means I DID IT, FRIENDS!!!

#mythothon was a bingo board based, month long readathon inspired by greek mythology, hosted by louise from foxes and fairytales. there were 24 prompts and one free space, and i made a tbr for every single prompt. i read pretty slow and was under no illusion that i’d get through all, or even half, of them tho lmao. i picked the vertical row to the very left and decided that my goal for the month was to read those five books and get a bingo. you can see my full tbr here, but these are the prompts and books i chose:

  • Zeus. King of the Gods. God of the Sky. Read a book at least 400 pages long – FOR A MUSE OF FIRE
  • Aphrodite. Goddess of Love and Beauty. Read a book with a beautiful cover – THE BLACK GOD’S DRUMS
  • Dionysus. God of Wine. Celebrate this year by reading a 2018 release – THE NIGHT MASQUERADE
  • Ares. God of War. Read a book with a compelling antagonist or a written from the villain’s POV – WILDCARD
  • Athena. Goddess of Wisdom, Strategy and Crafts. Read a book that’s not the first in the series – RUIN OF STARS

unfortunately for some of these books i’m a very indecisive person and can never stick to a plan, so i ended up switching the night masquerade for the collected edition of the comic shipwreck, and ruin of stars for the graphic novel the hidden witch. i had to read shipwreck for my job, and the hidden witch was one of my most anticipated graphic novels of the year so when i finally got it i had to read it instantly. so what i actually ended up reading were these:

Celebrate this year by reading a 2018 release – SHIPWRECK
  • Ares. God of War. Read a book with a compelling antagonist or a written from the villain’s POV – WILDCARD
  • Athena. Goddess of Wisdom, Strategy and Crafts. Read a book that’s not the first in the series – THE HIDDEN WITCH

i wasn’t sure i’d actually read all five, but i did and i’m so proud of myself!! the first book i started reading was wildcard, but it was the second to last one i finished lol. i can’t promise i’ll be great at consistently reviewing what i read, but i decided i was going to review everything i read for #mythothon. here are the reviews for what i read, in the order i finished them:

overall i really enjoyed the books i read, as you can see as i highly recommend 3/5 reads. my favourite is probably the black god’s drums, though. it was just incredible, and i’m still thinking about it several days later.

i read a total of 798 pages and listened to 11 hours and 20 minutes, which i know aren’t very big numbers for a lot of people since this was spanned 30 days, but i haven’t read this much in a month for so long. i don’t think this will totally pull me out of my Reading Slump From Hell, but i think it helped and i had lots of fun. for the past year or so i’ve always ended up waiting at least a week between books, but since november ended (ONLY 3 DAYS AGO) i’ve already finished the graphic novel the adventure zone: here there be gerblins, which i had read about half of previously, and continued reading soft on soft: #fatgirlsinlove, which i was maybe 15% into and now i’ve just passed the 25% mark.

thank you, louise, for hosting this readathon!
